Pearson Airport Explorers Camp- The History of Airports and Toronto Pearson
Event Information
About this Event
Hello Airport Explorers!
Want to learn more about the history of airports and Toronto Pearson? Join us on Thursday, January 28, for our first virtual camp in 2021.
You’ll learn really cool things about aviation. Did you know that some planes still land on dirt runways or grassy fields or that the first airplane took to the sky in 1903! In the 117 years since then, airplanes have become important for moving people and cargo all around the world! As airplanes changed to become bigger and more powerful, and as more and more people wanted to fly, airports changed too!
We promise you a fun-filled hour with activities, a behind-the-scenes look at Toronto Pearson Airport, and lots of opportunities to win some cool prizes.
As well, if you join us each month and send in your work, your name will be entered into a draw to win a Chromebook.
When: Thursday, January 28, 2021
Time: 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.
Join the session here.
Please note: While anyone can send in their work to be featured on the website, we can only send prizes to people with a Canadian mailing address. Sorry!
If you send us a picture or video with your face in it, please note that by doing so you agree to the following statement: “I consent to the GTAA using images and videos submitted by me/my child on the Explorers At Work Gallery Page”.
Pearson Airport Explorers Club Official Contest Rules
Toronto Pearson was recognized by the Airports Council International-North America for Best Educational and Outreach Program for the Airport Explorers Club, which launched in April 2020. The award recognizes the airport with the most creative and effective community outreach and aviation education program conducted online, inside, or outside the airport. The Explorers Club was created to teach children in grades 3 through 8 about all things aviation and to give them an inside look at Toronto Pearson through fun activities and virtual camps.
