Event description

Description

Please note - due to an overwhelming response to our presentations, we are currently not able to take anymore bookings for the 2016-17 school year. We may have more availability in a few months - please check back then!

Delivered by our very own Crossing Guards, this program consists of free, fun, interactive, age- appropriate 30 minute presentations that use working models of traffic and pedestrian lights, a roll-out crosswalk, roll-playing, props and problem solving.

The presentation educates elementary school students about pedestrian, with a particular focus on how to cross the street safely. Students will learn:

  • Why they need to practice safety when walking;
  • Where to cross the street and how to do so safely;
  • How to interpret traffic and pedestrian lights;
  • How to recognize dangerous situations and make decisions;
  • How to be a safety role model to younger students;
  • How to cross at roundabouts; and
  • Bike Safety.

PLEASE READ: Important Information about Booking

  • Due to the interactive nature of the presentations, the maximum # of students should not exceed 40 (or approx. two classes at a time). If you have a larger group we can split them up into smaller groups and do several presentations.

  • Our presenters work in 3-hour time blocks per day. Within 3 hours they can do a maximum of 3 presentations (including set-up and take-down). Presentations range from 30 – 40 minutes.

  • Presentations are geared towards specific age groups (i.e., JK/SK, Grade 1-2, 3-4 & 5-6) - therefore we cannot mix older and younger classes.

  • Once your booking form is received, one of our Pedestrian Safety Presenters will contact you to confirm specific dates, times and schedules.

  • When creating a presentation schedule for the Presenter - please allow 5 minutes between the presentations and 10 minutes after lunch or recess to ensure the students are settled.
