Description

Pediatric Update is an annual continuing medical education pediatric conference for family physicians, community pediatricians, emergency physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and other allied health professionals who work with children, residents and trainees. The conference is presented by the University of Alberta, Department of Pediatrics.

2017 Pediatric Update will be our sixth annual event, with attendance growing annually.



Delegate Composition

• Over 150 delegates

• 50/50 split of family medicine and pediatric physicians and residents

• 50/50 split of urban and rural delegates

• Growing number of allied health professionals working with pediatric populations


Program

• Total of three days of practical learning that can be applied in a community office/clinic setting, including:

  • Optional full-day emergent management situation skills and simulation workshop

  • Optional half-day pediatric musculoskeletal examination refresher workshop

• Program Advisory Committee plans the sessions, based on feedback from previous delegates

• Past conferences have been accredited for delegates by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the College of Family Physicians of Canada, Alberta Chapter

• Community resource table and corporate sponsorship opportunities available

• caring for families after the death of a child
