Event description

Description

Before there was World of Warcraft, people created characters loosely based in archetypes of high fantasy and sat around tables with sheets of paper full of statistics that represented them. They rolled oddly-shaped dice, imagined the world instead of watching it on a screen, and voice-acted their characters instead of picking from a list of pixelated responses. Come and learn what tabletop RPGs are all about and what it's like to play them, from a local who has 30 years of gaming experience as a player, Dungeon Master, and official and unofficial website contributor.

This workshop will be part of the Penti-Con and as a result, your admission is free with your registration to the event!

Diane Morrison has been playing tabletop RPGs since she was ten years old and running them since she was 16. Now in her 40s, she was at one time a Contributor to Fantaseum.com, the official Dungeons & Dragons Core Rules website, and Beyond the Moons: the Official Spelljammer 3rd Edition Website. Her gaming experience spans a wide variety of RPGs, including but not limited to D&D, GURPs, Shadowrun, DC Heroes, Twilight 2000, the Storyteller/Storytelling Systems and a live-action roleplay troupe. She learned a smattering of martial arts and studied war tactics just so that she could describe fight scenes better. Currently she runs a fanzine for the D&D Spelljammer campaign setting, maintains a blog about all things geeky, and writes and publishes sci-fi/fantasy stories that stem from her games. She’s also a part-time medieval recreationist and a filk musician.
