Description

This film tells the story of Chiune Sugihara, a Japanese diplomat who defied orders and saved thousands of Jews from the Nazis. Join us at this screening to learn how Sugihara became known as the "Japanese Schindler."

  • Screening of Persona Non Grata
  • Thursday, December 15 at 7 pm
  • At the Montreal Holocaust Memorial Centre

Based on events ranging from 1934 to 1955, the film examines Sugihara's resistance to strict Japanese policies which allowed more than 6,000 Jews to escape Nazi territory.

The international cast features Japanese Academy Award-winning actor Toshiaki Karasawa as Chiune Sugihara, actress Koyuki, known for her role in The Last Samurai, and Polish actress Agnieszka Grochowska (In Darkness).
