Perspectives From Within: Exhibition Celebration + Artist Meet and Greet:
Event Information
About this Event
Perspectives From Within features visual artworks that engage critically with mental health in the broadest sense. Many of the artworks are based on lived experience including depression, anxiety, addiction, and eating disorders. This online gathering will provide a platform for celebrating the exhibition and achievements of the artists, as well as meeting the production team. Hosted by CARFAC Alberta and curator Dick Averns, each artist will be given the opportunity to say a few words, and community members will be able to meet all those involved. Images from the exhibition will be included, and there will be opportunities to ask questions and discuss related topics.
This exhibition was created through an open call to Alberta-based artists at any stage of their career. Dozens of applications were received, and nine artists were selected to exhibit their works: Krista Acheson, Wes Bell, Alexis Marie Chute, Father Douglas, Maren Elliot, Christian Peres Gibaut, Riisa Gundeson, Natalie Lauchlan and Zana Wensel.
The project is co-produced and guest juried by SITE c PROJECTS, the creative arm of OBAD (Organization for Bipolar Aff¬ective Disorders). SITE c uses art as a tool to create dialogue around individual and community mental wellness. The exhibition is hosted by co-producer CARFAC Alberta, undertaking education, advocacy and innovation for visual artists.
