Tea & Tempeh! Can you think of anything more delightful!?? The Tea Lounge is excited to collaborate with London, Ontario’s Petojo Food & Catering for this instalment of our Plant Based Pop-Up Dinner series. The 4-course dinner with tea pairing will put the spotlight on tempeh and vegan dishes from Indonesia and, of course, showcase beTeas premium teas & tisanes, with thoughtful pairings led by The Tea Lounge founder Michelle Pierce Hamilton.

The evening promises to be a unique culture and full sensory experience that both foodies and tea enthusiasts will adore!

Petojo Food was co-founded by siblings Anthony Abdullah (Chef) and Kimi Abdullah (General Manager) in 2015. The inspiration for the company name comes from their Father’s childhood neighbourhood in central Jakarta, Indonesia. Many of their products are inspired by family traditions, meals and holidays on the island of Java.

Just as we take pride in offering high quality teas, Petojo Food produces high quality food products by making them in small batches, never using artificial preservatives, and using local produce and ingredients wherever possible. They've earned a good reputation for applying modern twists on traditional Indonesian dishes.

The Tea Lounge is delighted host Petojo Food to bring you a unique experience that will delight your palette. Plan 2 hours for this dining experience.

Here is the planned dinner menu prepared by Petojo Food (the tea pairings will be revealed at the dinner):

Bakwan Jagung

  • Traditional corn fritter snack

Dua

Gado Gado Salad

  • Kale, green beans, cucumber, pickled bean sprouts tossed in peanut sauce accompanied with Jasmine tea infused rice cake, fried tempeh, crispy shallots and emping (fried nut cracker)

Tiga

Rendang Tempeh Merokok

  • Lapsang compressed tempeh, carrots, corn, lemongrass, chili, coconut cream

Nasi Kuning

  • Long grain white rice soaked and cooked in coconut milk, infused with lemongrass, lime leaf and turmeric

Acar Timun

  • Sweet and sour pickled cucumber

Empat

Serabi dan Es Krim

  • Pandan pancakes served warm with tea infused coconut milk gelato, peanuts, toasted coconut and spiced coconut palm sugar syrup

Our PBP Tea pairing is a dinner series where we showcase some of the very best of London cuisine, expertly paired alongside distinguishing beTeas premium teas & tisanes, creating a unique culture and full sensory experience real foodies will simply adore! Our PBPs explore 4 courses, always unique, fresh local and plant-based with Sommelier-led pairings.

There will be only one seating for this Indonesian Tea Pairing Dinner at 7pm. The Tea Lounge has seating limited to 24 so we recommend booking your spot early so you do not miss out! All offerings for this event are 100% plant-based/vegan, and so delicious they are sure to be enjoyed by all!
