The pharmaceutical industry is one of the most innovative ones in Canada and specifically in Ontario. More than 25,000 people are employed annually in manufacturing portion of pharmaceutical sector according to the Government of Canada Statistics. There are a numerous pharmaceutical manufacturing companies in Canada such as Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, Apotex, Merck, Novartis, Teva, GlaxoSmithKline, Roche, Pharmascience, AstraZeneca.
The pharmaceutical industry is increasingly looking for engineers, technicians and scientists with high quality training and knowledge in pharmaceutical engineering.
Pharmaceutical Engineers deal with the conception, design and engineering, construction, and operation of manufacturing plants and pilots in the conversion of chemicals and biochemicals into valuable pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical therapies. Pharmaceutical engineers work towards the development and improvement of society’s health.
This course provides an introduction to synthesis, separation, and sterile processing in the manufacturing of pharmaceutical products. “Pharmaceutical Engineering and Manufacturing” course also covers the essential operations and activities in the pharmaceutical companies. The course content is as the following:
- Overview of Pharmaceutical Manufacturing
- Fundamentals of Pharmaceutical Engineering
- Fluid Flow
- Heat Transfer
- Mass Transfer
- Air Conditioning and Humidification
- Solid-Liquid Extraction
- Evaporation and Distillation
Course Duration: 36 hours (9 hours per week)
Start Date: November 22, 2016 (Tuesday)
End Date: December 18, 2016 (Sunday)
NOTE: Students who successfully accomplish the final project will receive an official certificate of completion.
