Event description
Tutorial on the modern theory of knowledge and attendant puzzles.

About this Event

Asking how we know what we know and whether we can know anything for certain is not so popular in our information-saturated society. Yet this is the question that was at the heart of the philosophical project in ancient Greece and later kick-started modern science.

In this short tutorial you'll get acquainted with the modern take on the theory of knowledge, questions such as "What is knowledge" & "How much do we actually know?", the conflicts and puzzles that arise, and the implications for our everyday lives.

Topics covered: skeptical, intuitionist, evidence-based theories, including foundationalism, coherentism and reliabilism.

Location: Learning Centre 1 - 1st floor Toronto Reference Library
