PROGRAM: Bloch, Brahms, Haydn, Murphy, Schoenfield
ARTISTS: Chloé Chabanole, violin; Cameron Crozman, cello; Philip Chiu, piano
Our past Musician-In-Residence, the 2023 JUNO Award-winning and Prix Goyer-winning pianist Philip Chiu and 2023 JUNO Award-winning violinist and Orchestre de l’Agora concertmaster Chloé Chabanole, are joined by cellist and Radio-Canada Classical Revelation Artist and Prix Opus nominee Cameron Crozman, for this not-to-be-missed springtime concert celebrating the piano trio in all of its forms. With a natural synergy and communicative ease, anchored by a shared artistic vision, these three phenomenal artists have imagined a bold program of virtuosity, nuance, and poise exploring the nobility and playfulness of Joseph Haydn and his Piano Trio No. 43 in C major, Ernest Bloch's rich and evocative Three Nocturnes for Piano Trio, the dark and dramatic sounds of Johannes Brahms' Piano Trio No. 3 in C minor, as well as the colourful and energetic "Give Me Phoenix Wings to Fly" from award-winning Canadian composer Kelly-Marie Murphy, and Paul Schoenfield's exuberant "Café Music." This concert is presented in partnership with JM Canada Emerging Artists Concerts with support from the Government of Québec, the Canada Council for the Arts, the Department of Canadian Heritage, and the Azrieli Foundation. Mainstage Concert Series Major Sponsor – Scotiabank. Season Sponsor – Jules Chamberlain / Red Door Realty.
