Forgiveness: A Gift from my Grandparents is the true story of author Mark Sakamoto's grandparents. His maternal grandfather was a prisoner of war in Japan during the Second World War, meanwhile his paternal grandmother and her Japanese-Canadian family were interned in Alberta. The memoir was defended by fashion icon, entrepreneur and author Jeanne Beker for Canada Reads in 2018, and also won.

On May 22, the Museum is pleased to welcome Mark Sakamoto and Jeanne Beker for a discussion about the phenomenal memoir, family, immigration and Canadian identity. Their conversation will begin with a reading from Forgiveness by Mark, and will be followed with a Q&A and book signing.

Space is limited. Reserve your place to confirm your attendance.
