Event description

Description

Autism Ontario is hosting Pivotal Response Training (PRT) for families with children (18months-12years) diagnosed with ASD. Caregivers will be required to attend each session and complete required homework activities. The program will run on Wednesdays for 6 weeks.

PRT targets pivotal areas of development that foundational behaviours rely on to make widespread generalized improvements. Areas targeted are motivation, responsivity to mulitple cues, self-management and social initiations. Resuts of PRT are widespread improvments in communication, social and behavioural domains.

Svetlana Popovic is a Doctoral student in Education at the University of Windsor. She is also a Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT) therapist for children with autism spectrum disorder in our community and is the only individual in Ontario that is certified to level 5 - training parents and professionals in PRT. Her research interests included parent training in Pivotal Response Treatment and teaching young children with autism to engage in self-learning through social initiations and question-asking.

This program is open to 6 familes, you will be contacted if you are in the program as it is a first come first serve registration.
