Pjilita’q Mi’kmaki: L’nuite’tmukl tan wejkuwaql naqwe’kl International Gathering

“Welcome to Mi’kmaq territory: Utilizing/Using Indigenous Thought for the coming days/future

October 10 – 13th, 2018

K’jipuktuk/Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada

The 2018 edition of the Aboriginal Curatorial Collective / Collectif des commissaires autochtones (ACC-CCA)’s ongoing colloquia and gathering series, Pjilita’q Mi’kmaki: L’nuite’tmukl tan wejkuwaql naqwe’kl International Gathering is a large-scale gathering of Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, Métis and other relatives) curators, arts workers, writers and artists of all disciplines from October 10-13th, 2018 in K’jipuktuk in Mi’kmaki/Halifax in Nova Scotia. This International Gathering considers diverse conceptions of Indigenous knowledges and ceremonial-political economies in relation to Indigenous curatorial, literary and artistic practices today. With our continuing focus on restoring Indigenous matriarchal and non-binary kinship, land-based wellbeing, and learning from each other in nurturing abundant futures beyond current settler and military colonial regimes, we gather to learn on the shores of gta’n. As individual makers, organizers and knowledge keepers living and working in multiple forms of cultural presence and power, at home and away in neighbouring or distant territories, what careful actions, sovereign futures, do our teachings compel us towards?
