Event description
A two-day photo workshop where our focus will be drawn to the mystery, sense of loss, and unexpected beauty found in abandoned buildings.

About this Event

27-28 August 2020  |  $299.00 * Early Bird while quantities last (4).

This unique photo workshop event* has been designed to inspire you to hit the Reset button, to re-capture your creative spirit. The idea is about exploring, realizing, and photographing what is around you every day of your life.

Co-hosted by the Manitoba Historical Society and CBC Radio host Gordon Goldsborough, this 2-day event is essentially an 'experience' where our focus will be drawn to the mystery, sense of loss, and unexpected beauty found in abandoned iconic structures. Whether to impress your friends or make fine-art prints for presentation or gift-giving, these epic locations present an essential collection of images to be had, that grants permanence to photogenic structures that will soon vanish forever.

Grain elevators, homes, churches (including epic Ukrainian onion-dome churches), mills, bridges, storefronts, old vehicles, abandoned movie sets, fantastic farmsteads, factories, ghost towns, vast landscapes and much more.

At each location, we'll discuss how to handle a number of generic situations you'll encounter in the field so you can create better images. In no time, you will have a compelling collection of stunning and melancholy photos, a storied collection that helps us hear these abandoned places speak. We ask the more advanced photographers to be understanding if this advice seems trivial.

So where should you start and what should you do? The fact that you're reading this right now is your key to making the photos you've always hoped for. So congratulations. It's time to register.

Bring as many friends as you like and each will save 15% off the purchase price. This offer applies to a one-price model and cannot be purchased separately. Contact the Organizer to obtain this promotion. Limited quantity.

* Your own transportation is required.

This Field Workshop runs rain or shine. Participants under the age of 19 must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian (also paid participants).
