Event description

Description

The idea of a crisis of any kind is not something we like to think about. It signifies something bad happening in our future and we shy away from such stressful scenarios. For those with diffabilities or those supporting individuals with diffabilities, the imagined scenarios can seem even more stressful and come in a much more diverse array of situations.

People and families need peace of mind knowing that plans are in place to support our loved ones no matter the situation - that people are notified, information is readily available, and supports are ready to step in when needed.

That's why we have created "Planning for a Crisis," a comprehensive workbook and corresponding workshop which will give you the tools you need to create a plan with your loved one.

We will work on:

  • Coordination and Continuity
  • Networking
  • Strategic Planning
  • Knowledge Management
  • Identification and Optimization of Resources
  • Communication

At this workshop you will receive your copy of “Planning for a Crisis.” This booklet is a working document that is aimed at supporting families, and more importantly, individuals with diffabilities. It will need to be individualized to suit your family’s unique dynamics and lifestyle, with the key focus being that of creating intentional structure throughout the crisis. The idea behind this document is to take initiative, gather info and resources, and create a solid system of action to support a person/family through crisis.

The workshop fee is $275 and $25 for an additional family member. This fee covers the full-day workshop with lunch, your copy of the Planning for a Crisis document, along with 2 hours of individualized follow-up (1 hour of document review and 1 hour of discussion and feedback). This ensures you will have the guide and follow-up support you need to move forward with your crisis plan. (Subsidies may be available based on financial need. Please get in touch to learn more.)
