Planting for the Winter Harvest
Event Information
Description
A year round harvest from your home is an achievable goal in the mild climate of the Comox Valley. Planting for the harvest starts in July. Winter harvest crops need to be full size by October. Planning crop rotations, establishing seed beds, choosing varieties, keeping seedlings alive in the summer heat all present special challenges. Short season varieties, cold and wind protection, and other strategies for extending the growing season will be covered. This class will help you achieve the full benefit of being a coastal gardener: A Year Around Harvest!
