Productions & Workshop Presentations:

PARADISE by Patti Flather (Gwandak Theatre, MT Space) | $30
May 3rd: 8pm, May 4th: 9pm, May 5th: 8pm
Visiting for the time from Whitehorse, Yukon, will be Gwaandak Theatre with their mesmerizing performance of Paradise by Patti Flather. In 1992, Patti Flather’s father, a family doctor, was murdered outside his North Vancouver home — shot by a former patient with an undiagnosed mental illness. Reflections on that traumatizing event eventually found their way into Paradise. Said the playwright, “Writing’s how I deal with things…. I was trying to transcend the personal, expand the scope, and tell a wider story that connects with people.” A complex work of incredible beauty.

STRUCK by Eric Rose (Ghost River Theatre) | $30
May 2nd: 8pm, May 4th: 7pm
A coming home after 15 years for Sudbury native, now Calgary resident, Eric Rose. Eric is returning to the landscape of his youth to recall in this fantastic solo show the day he was literally stuck by lightening while at camp with friends. Happenstance, magic and what it means to grow up and come home again are all part of this dynamic exploration. A proud graduate of Sudbury Secondary, Eric is the artistic director of nationally award-winning Ghost River Theatre. We are very happy to welcome him home.

THE YELLOW WALLPAPER by Julia Appleton & Hannah Church (YES! Theatre) | $25
April 30th: 8pm
A haunting New Musical-In-Development workshop with YES! Theatre about a young mother at the turn of the last century, her new baby and the room where she rests.

PARMI LES ÉCLATS (english translation) by Miriam Cusson (TNO) | $25
May 1st: 8pm

Fresh-off-the-press English translation of Miriam Cusson’s searing piece about women, men and the whole damn thing.

Plus!

Three new works in process by local Sudbury playwrights | $15

Sparrows Over Slag by Kim Fahner | May 1st: 5pm
