Event description

Description

This recital is part of the RCCO 2018 Calgary Organ Festival.

Enjoy a program designed “by” the Ahrend organ to showcase its beautiful solo and chamber sounds, as well as its thrilling choruses. A program filled with the delight and passion of the Baroque era and beyond, including some unexpected “pleasures and treasures”!

Wendy Markosky will be showcasing the Ahrend (2006) organ at the Rozsa Centre at the University of Calgary. The music is chosen to demonstrate the beauty of a true North German organ with an unequal temperament.

Wendy Markosky

Wendy Markosky is Professor of Music and music department chair at Burman University in Lacombe, AB, and organist of the university church. She holds undergraduate degrees in biology and music, and earned master’s and doctoral degrees in organ from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, Bloomington. While there she also studied harpsichord and carillon, was an associate instructor of music theory for five years, and served as university chapel organist.

In addition to solo performing, Wendy greatly enjoys ongoing collaborations with several early music groups in Alberta; playing organ/harpsichord with the Red Deer Symphony Orchestra; and performing in one of Alberta’s newest early music ensembles, Rosa Barocca.
