About this event
Plein air painting is the experience of painting or drawing in the landscape, En plein air is a french expression that translates to, “in the open air” and refers to the act of painting outdoors with the artist's subject in view. Plein air artists are able to capture the essence of their subject by incorporating light, colour and movement into their work. Any medium can be used, from pencils to pen, watercolours, ink or paint.
In this facilitated workshop, Laura will present a talk on the history and practices of Plein Air art and then offer a demonstration in the Nature House. Participants will then go out onto the trails to choose a subject to draw/paint. Participants are encouraged to bring their own art supplies such as a notebook, paper, pencils, markers, paints or crayons. For a fee, we will have some supplies on-site to purchase.
