Event description

Description

Celebrate pollinator week with Pollination Guelph and the City of Guelph! Join us to plant native wildflowers to enhance pollinator habitat in the ReMediate pollinator garden, and activities for children and adults to learn all about pollinators including:

Public Sewing: 1 to 3 p.m.

You are invited to participate in sewing seed paper pieces with artist Christina Kingsbury as part of the ReMediate project. ReMediate is an ongoing gesture of care for degraded land in the form of a 2500 square foot quilt made for the Eastview Landfill. The quilt is made from handmade paper and embedded with native seeds. As it disintegrates on the land, it becomes a wildflower garden for pollinators and other threatened species. Needles and thread will be provided.

Citizen Science: 1 to 3 p.m.

Learn all about pollinators and what you can do to support them while participating in citizen science (observations and netting of pollinating insects).

Guided Tours 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Join us for guided tours of the Pollinator Park grassland habitat located on the former Eastview Landfill, including a walk inside the fence through the planted area and up to the top with a view of the Church of our Lady.

Registration

Pre-registration is suggested but drop-ins are also welcome. Register before June 12, 2019 to win a kit of native wildflowers for your garden!
