Description

Join Polycoro for a series of transformative experiences in 2017-18!

Positive Friction:
500 years of Musical Revolution inspired by Martin Luther. Join us as we explore how the ripple effects of one idea inspired and changed western music for centuries. Featuring works by Ambrosius, Praetorius, Josquin, Christian Erbach, Heinrich Schutz, Johann Schein, J. S. Bach, Johann Walter, and Isaiah Ceccarelli in commemoration of Luther's great act of rebellion.

Path of Miracles:
Submerge your senses on a journey through the "Path of Miracles." Hear Joby Talbot's 2005 a cappella masterpiece for 17 voices live at the WAG Atrium as you and the choir become the canvas for Polycoro's first collaboration with internationally-acclaimed filmmaker and projectionist Deco Dawson. This is an experience you won't want to miss. Dawson’s projection work has been described as “Jaw Dropping” by the New York Times and the Toronto Star describing his work as “so compelling, you can’t take your eyes off the stage.”

Modern Mass:
Polycoro premieres Winnipeg's own Neil Weisensel's lush and lyrical new Mass along side beloved favourites from the modern repertoire by Richard Rodeny Bennett and Francis Poulenc. For centuries the Mass has been a recognized and revered sacred musical form. Hear how three modern composers beautifully interpret ancient ideas to reflect a changing world.
