Description

The Patient-Oriented Research Training Program provides participants with a foundational understanding of Patient-Oriented Research (POR). It is intended to help equip research team members with the skills and knowledge necessary to engage meaningfully in projects that involve a POR approach.

The Training Program is open to anyone who is collaborating, or planning to collaborate, in POR. It is intended for graduate students, trainees, community and academic researchers, patients and family members, health care professionals, decision-makers, and industry and community stakeholders who are interested in learning about, or contributing to, POR in Alberta.

Sessions will involve a speaker introducing revlevant POR topic, followed by a collaborative workshop activity to further reinforce the ideas presented!

Join us for our second session as we talk about patient engagement in Patient Oriented Research.

Hosted by the Career Development Platform of the Alberta SPOR SUPPOR Unit,

Guest Speaker: Dr. Lisa Petermann is a Program Coordinator with the Patient Engagement Platform for the SPOR SUPPORT Unit. She has held progressive leadership positions in the health sector, at the provincial and national levels, in both government and not-for-profit organizations. Her previous posts have included a strong focus on knowledge translation including in-depth work on relationship building, stakeholder outreach and engagement, and knowledge translation infrastructure development. She has a PhD in medical history, and has been actively engaged in health-based research and education for nearly 15 years. Dr. Petermann is published in the areas of medical history, knowledge exchange,gambling science, and cancer prevention and screening.



There is no cost to attend the sessions, but registration is required. The in-person sessions will take place in the following location - please select the means you plan to attend when you select your ticket:


University of Calgary - W21C Multipurpose Room, Foothills Campus

Online Access - Please register for the online access ticket by February 28th at 12:00pm. Your email address will be used to forward the link for the session prior to the event.

Note: For those in Edmonton who wish to still gather, room 2-040 in the Li Ka Shing Building (located on U of A campus) will be hosting online participants to allow networking and meeting opportunities. While the presentation will be streamed for all who wish to attend, please bring your own laptop if you wish to participate in the online discussion. Additionally, lunch will not be provided in Edmonton.
