Event description

Description

Our Positive Space Program is a proposed action item within the Corporation’s 2014 Workplace Diversity and Inclusion Plan. It is a best practice of employers committed to providing a supportive, welcoming and inclusive work place. The Program was developed by PRISM, the Corporation’s Employee Resource Group for LGBT+ employees and allies, whose focus is “Supporting our LGBT+ employees to bring their whole selves to work”. The Program creates a network of trained allies throughout our organization called Positive Space Champions, to support employees who may be:

  • questioning their sexual orientation
  • considering “coming out”
  • “out” and experiencing difficulties
  • considering or in the process of confirming their gender identity
  • supporting family members or friends who reflect the above descriptions
  • wishing to seek out information about the LGBT+ community, issues and resources

Prior to the training date, please watch the video “Love Is All You Need?”. This 20 minute feature film quality video depicts a society where heterosexuality is the minority and straight people experience the marginalization and harassment that LGBT+ people experience in our society. Please be prepared to discuss your reactions to viewing the video during the training.

The training agenda is below. The half-day session is very full, so please arrive ready to learn for the start time.

  • reinforcement of the organization’s rationale for the Positive Space Program
