Event Details

Instructor:  Deborah Osborne

Post Production is the culmination of the production process.  Good post production budgeting and scheduling are the cornerstone of a creative and fiscally successful delivery of any production.  The key is planning and managing the post production process.  Challenging to do if you do not understand the workflow, lock into an old budget template or create a budget which is not supportive of the script or reflective of today’s complex deliverables and fast changing technology.  Without an understanding of the post production process – the result is often creative compromise, cost overruns and the real danger of missing a delivery.

This course will explore the fundamentals of post production, its departmental influences, and its integration to the prep and production stages.   Learn how including ‘post production with pre-production’ and ‘working backwards from delivery’ will create a more realistic post production workflow, schedule and budget.  Risk management, problem solving and effective methods of project management will be explored and put into context.  This course will break down and explain the elements of a post production budget with the goal of fulfilling broadcast and distribution obligations simply and effectively while making real contributions to a project from start to finish.

Post Production Supervisor Lee Hughes will also join the course for “How to Work with a Post Production Facility”.  She will share her insight and experience gained during her previous years as a Project Manager at a Post Facility by discussing common pitfalls, opportunities for streamlining costs, explore efficiencies,  and best practices in communication and managing risk with a Post Production facility.
