PRESENTER: Dr Sanjay Rao, Associate Professor of Psychiatry University of Ottawa

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Are you the therapist who wants to scale up your PTSD treatment skills?

Do you want to learn how to treat complex PTSD avoiding dropouts and therapy stagnation?

Would you like to learn how to manage comorbidity and suicidal/ self-harm risk with PTSD clients?

Then attend this workshop on PTSD. The course leader is experienced in several schools of Cognitive behavioural therapy including mindfulness and third wave approaches. You will learn a clear cut cognitive behavioural conceptualization of CBT. We will follow the Ehlers' and Clark's model for PTSD.

In this workshop will provide an overview of recent conceptualisation of CBT and all the evidence-based treatments for PTSD including the interaction between medication and psychological treatments.

The unique and practical treatment approaches which go beyond exposure strategies. You will experience strategies focusing on values, meaning and real-world outcomes, as you manage risk and co-morbidities.

WORKSHOP TRAINERS:

Dr Sanjay Rao is an experienced teacher and Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Ottawa In 2018 he was awarded a Fellowship of the Canadian Association of Cognitive Behavioural therapy for his contribution to CBT in Canada. He has received an award from the Department of Health, UK for CBT development. He is the Director of Unified CBT training.

Dr Rao has trained in CBT, DBT, Mindfulness-based therapies, and strength focussed coaching. He has expertise in both psychological and pharmacological treatment of mental health conditions. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrist (UK) and Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (Canada). He has delivered over 250 workshops in Cognitive behavioural therapies, presented in national, international conferences and published in several scientific journals.

Since 2011 he has helped the province of Nova Scotia develop Cognitive Behavioural Therapy implementation by training and supervising therapists across the province. He has also served as an executive member of the Canadian Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy along with various management position such as Co-Chair of Chiefs of Psychiatrists in Nova Scotia, Clinical Director of The Mood and Anxiety Program at the Royal Ottawa Hospital and Clinical Lead of Improving Access to Structured Psychotherapy in Ottawa.

Dr Rao is involved in research concerning distance delivery of CBT through technology as well as workplace mental health using CBT and problem-solving approaches. He is an active clinician delivering CBT in collaborative care settings.

He trains and supervises multidisciplinary teams including physicians, nurses, social workers, psychologists and counsellors.


Kirstine Postma is the UK trained Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years of professional experience. She provides psychological assessment and interventions for a wide variety of difficulties, including post-traumatic stress, anxiety and mood disorders and certain personality disorders. She offers Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and EMDR, as well as several other evidence-based therapies.
Kirstine achieved full registration as a Psychologist with the British Psychological Society in 2001 and with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology on her arrival there in 2011. She is currently registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO). Kirstine was an accredited CBT therapist with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Therapists from 2003 to 2014 and has been a certified CBT therapist with the Canadian Association of CBT since 2012. She is a certified EMDR therapist with EMDRIA (EMDR International Association).

Full refund minus $50.00 Admin fee until February 21st, 2020 at 4:00 pm.

After February 21st, 2020 the refund will be for 50% of the fee paid.

The course fee paid can be carried forward to another 1-day workshop offered by us.

Unified CBT Cancellation:

Please note that many Workshops require a minimum number of attendees for the workshop to go ahead and be financially viable. Please do not incur or commit to any additional costs in relation to the workshop until you have received confirmation that it is going ahead.

Unified CBT reserves the right to cancel this workshop at its discretion. In the unlikely event, a workshop must be cancelled or rescheduled, workshop fees will be refunded at 100%. Unified CBT including its coordinators, agents and/or trainers, hold no financial responsibility for any related additional costs including travel or accommodation costs incurred by the registrant.
