Description
POSTPONED: In the interest of public safety and health around COVID-19, we have made the difficult decision to postpone this event. We will be in touch regarding future plans as soon as possible. The need for the sponsorship of refugees has not diminished and your contribution is critical to making it possible for people to begin a new life here in Vancouver. If you have any questions, please visit www.standrewswesley.com
You are invited to join us for Open Arms – A Refugee Sponsorship Fundraiser. It will be an evening of education, entertainment and culinary delights with catering provided by Moltaqa, halal Moroccan cuisine.
Our guest speaker will be John Michael Koffi. John is a poet, musician and author of Refuge-e: The Journey Much Desired. Originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo, John has lived in two refugee camps in Malawi and Swaziland and has travelled in many countries. Koffi, 22 years old, is currently an undergraduate student at the University of British Columbia and living in Vancouver.
There will be opportunity for all to bid on exciting Silent Auction items and to enjoy uplifting and celebrational music. Tickets will be priced at $75 with $45 of the ticket price being tax deductible. Last year's event (2019) was a great success and was sold out well in advance of the event. With a limit of 100 tickets/attendees you will want to be sure to secure your tickets soon so as to not be disappointed. We’re looking forward to seeing you there!
