Event description

Description

*PLEASE NOTE* DUE TO THE COVID 19 (CORONAVIRUS) THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL A LATER DATE- TO BE ANNOUNCED - SEPTEMBER?

Drawing on the work of Joanna Macy, this experiential workshop will provide participants the opportunity to share our responses to the present condition of our world. We will recognize our pain for the world as evidence of our interconnectedness in the web of life – and hence our call to take part in its healing. We may see that we are not alone, and that sharing our individual despair can lead to hope as we engage in our historic task of transforming the present world.

Carla Gunn will talk about her own eco-anxiety and that of her young son which lead her to explore the theme in fiction. The novel, Amphibian, was short-listed for the Commonwealth Prize for best first novel and recently was long listed for CBC Canada Reads 2020.

Wilf Bean a veteran social justice campaigner and retired adult educator says that getting involved locally with local people is necessary for his own sanity. Before retirement he worked at the Coady Institute International, StFXU Antigonish , and at the Tatamagouche Center, NS where he trained with Joanna Macy.
