Postponed - Visit the Royal Canadian Navy's Damage Control School
Event Information
Description
The Department of National Defence is welcoming Women in Aerospace Canada (Maritimes) to visit The Royal Canadian Navy’s Damage Control School on December 6, 2017. The DC School is rich in history preparing Canada’s sailors (and RCMP) for disasters at sea. It is named after HMCS Kootenay because of her at-sea explosion that occurred in 1969.
The approximate itinerary for the day is as follows:
10:00 am – watch HMCS Kootenay video
10:30 am – informal discussion with HMCS Kootenay survivor(s)
11:00 am – tour facility
12:00 pm – lunch
12:30 -2:00 pm – simulated fire extinguishing demonstration
2:00 pm – closing remarks from Commandant
Location: Purcell’s Cove Road between the York Redoubt National Historic Site and the village of Herring Cove, approximately 13 kilometres southwest of the CFB Halifax dockyard.
There are 20 seats available! Are you interested? First come first served…but we will set up a waitlist in the order in which names are received in case the individual at the top of the list cannot make it or in the event that additional seats open up.
