Poverty Studies Summer Institute

The Poverty Studies Summer Institute is a unique study opportunity that brings together students, practitioners and ministry workers into an intimate learning community. Participants will engage in active learning and discussion about the causes and impacts of poverty and best practices in how to alleviate and end it. The Summer Institute offers courses that respond to the material, social and spiritual dimensions of poverty providing both the knowledge and skill base to work effectively in the practice of poverty reduction.
The program will consist of 3 one-week intensive courses covering a range of topics. Courses may be eligible for credit for Ambrose University degree programs.
Out of town participants can book accommodation in the Ambrose University Residence. Our nightly rates include Wi-Fi, linens, towels and complimentary toiletries: Single occupancy room: $50.00/night; Double occupancy room: $70.00/night (per room); Weekly rate: $275.00. Each room is equipped with 1 or 2 single beds, desks, dressers and a sink. Every two rooms share a bathroom between them and every twelve rooms share a common room with couches, fridge and a microwave. (Please note: Washrooms are shared.) Members of Vibrant Communities can apply their VC training allowance to the cost of the program. Course subsidies are available upon request. For information about subsidies or residence, please email PovertyInstitute@ambrose.edu. Courses are eligible for ACSW professional development credits.
