8:30 am Community-based approaches to Early ID & Referral - The Early Years Check-In Tool and Check It Out Screening Events – Dr. John Cairney and Michele Lupa

Learning Objective: At the end of this session, participants will be able to comprehend what the “Check it Out” screening program entails and how they can utilize this resource when treating their pediatric patients.

9:45 am Vaping, Weed and Gaming Addictions – Dr. Sam Chang

Learning Objective: At the end of this session, participants will be able to identify and effectively treat adolescents who display symptoms of addiction to vaping, weed and video games.

1. Managing the Sexual Health Needs and Menstrual Issues of your Teen Patients – Dr. Allison Rodrigues

Learning Objective: At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

• Understand the new CPS Position Statement on Contraceptive Care

• Review STI testing and treatment in youth

• Apply an approach to Heavy Menstrual Bleeding and Abnormal Uterine Bleeding

2. Screen Time, Sleep Disorders, and Practical Treatments – Dr. Shelly Weiss

Learning Objective: At the end of this session, participants will:

• Update knowledge regarding screen time recommendations for pediatric patients

• Using a case-based approach, learn about new tools for the evaluation and practical treatment approaches to behavioural insomnia

• Update knowledge on the role of pharmacotherapy in the treatment of pediatric insomnia in children with developmental disabilities

• Review practical treatments for delayed sleep phase syndrome disorder, a common problem during adolescence

3. Pediatric Guidelines on Point-of-care Ultrasound - Dr. Michelle Lee

Learning Objective: At the end of this session, participants will understand the current pediatric guidelines for the use of Point-of-care ultrasound in the ED.

Learning Objective: At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

• Identify the drivers and harms associated with overuse.

• Recognize that there are processes, tools and organizations that support providing high value care.

• Review clinical examples of opportunities to improve resource stewardship in Pediatrics.

2:15 pm Pediatric Infectious Diseases Update: Measles, Rotavirus and HPV - Dr. Marina Salvadori

Learning Objective: At the end of this session, participants will be able to apply the latest research on infectious diseases when treating their pediatric patients.

3:30 pm 2019 Ontario Pediatric Update - Dr. Hirotaka Yamashiro and Dr. Shawn Kao

Learning Objective: At the end of this session, participants will be able to understand the current issues affecting the practice of pediatrics in Ontario, including OHIP billing issues and ongoing negotiations with government.
