About the Documentary:

Singapore’s very own ‘saint soldier’, Bhai Maharaj Singh. His story is a captivating tale that weaves Indian, British colonial and Singaporean narratives. Hailed as the first Sikh arrival in Singapore, his story here began at Outram Prison, in1850, and spanned across the Singapore General Hospital and Silat Road Sikh Temple - where his memorial currently stands and is revered.

Almost 170 years since his battle in the Anglo-Sikh wars and move from Punjab, the Bhai Maharaj Singh Memorial in Singapore is still visited by tens of thousands of people annually.

What keeps his memory thriving in the lion city, and beyond? Come with us on this journey as we take you across Punjab, London and some familiar spots in Singapore to bring you this story.

The documentary is in support of Singapore Bicentennial commemorations.
