What is prenatal education?

Prenatal education is ideal for those having babies for the first time or for those who would like a refresher. Knowing what to expect during pregnancy and how to manage once the baby is born will help to build your confidence as a new parent.

A public health nurse will teach expectant parents about the late stages of pregnancy, labour and birthing, relaxation, post-partum care of mom and baby, breastfeeding, and the transition to parenting. You will also be provided with information to help you make informed decisions with your health care provider.

When should I register?

Classes are recommended around your 6th or 7th month of pregnancy. Register as soon as possible to reserve a spot in class. Registration provides access to the class for 1 participant and 1 partner. Registering a partner separately is not required.

Call 519-383-8331 ext. 3573, toll free 1-800-667-1839 or visit our office to receive a FREE First Trimester Kit loaded with pamphlets, fact sheets and booklets with valuable information to support your pregnancy.
