Understanding why you eat when you are not hungry.

You have an auto pilot that literally forces you to eat.

Does this surprise you? It surprised me! I discovered that many of the eating choices I make are actually “auto pilot choices”. To think that I am not consciously choosing what I eat or when I eat and that I have developed an “auto pilot” when it comes to food and overeating, well, that realization scares me!

All our lives we program ourselves with behaviors related to eating. We are bored or lonely or stressed, so we eat. Whenever I was feeling lonely, I’d run to the fridge for a snack. The snack actually kept me company in the evenings!

Such behaviors become automatic. We don’t even question them because they are now habits. Does this sound reasonable? How many times have you eaten food without being fully aware of the food or the eating? How many times have you eaten food for reasons other than hunger? Habits are not reasonable. They can be reactions to emotional triggers.
