Extending the Growing Season

This workshop is part of our Gleneagles' Homesteaders mini-series. Learn basic canning techniques to help you preserve food for the winter. You will go home with a jar of preserves.

Instructor: Karen Dar Woon

Known to some as the Biscotti Queen, and others as Your Secret Chef, Karen began cooking professionally as a young teen, baking cookies and selling door to door in her neighborhood. After working in Geochemistry, Physical Metallurgy and then Graphic Arts for over 25 years, with some ad hoc catering along the way, she returned to follow her passion: Food. She completed both culinary and business training in her hometown of Vancouver, BC. With the assistance of the BCIT Venture Development Department, Karen launched her business, Your Secret Chef, in 2006.
