Event description

Description

This experiential practical skill building workshop will help participants cultivate emotional strength and resilience to manage personal and work stressors and prevent burnout.

Self-Compassion Practice helps us train our mind to respond with kindness and caring, even in the midst of overwhelming and stressful situations. It is a skill anyone can learn and cultivate.

Over 1000 studies have found a strong reduction in anxiety, depression, stress and shame along with an increase in health habits, life satisfaction at home and at work, and compassion for others.

In this experiential one-day workshop, participants will learn practical skills that will help them:

  • remain calm and caring in challenging situations
  • cultivate self-kindness
  • handle difficult emotions with greater ease
  • care for self while caring for others
  • use kindness as a motivator instead of criticism
  • understand the benefits and science behind self-compassion
  • teach simple self-compassion skills to others

Research shows that mindfulness and self-compassion practices are strongly associated with emotional well-being, with lower levels of anxiety and depression, and with more life satisfaction both at work and in personal relationships.

What I loved most about this workshop was the experiential learning, holding such safe space for such honest reflection & dialogue, skilled facilitators who embody Mindful Self-Compassion, the ‘out of head’ opportunity and the practice. Thank you! Andrea Hunter, Vancouver Island Health Authority

"It was an honour to meet you both and spend the day at the self-compassion workshop. I am remaining very conscious about the way I treat myself! Self-care has taken on a whole different connotation for me that has been a real epiphany. As it has been a lifelong habit to be harsh with myself, this remains my first 'go-to'. I can see that being a group that practices together for some weeks would be an ideal situation for me. I may consider that option over time....My favourite strategy so far is 'savouring'. Just resting my attention of something for those 15 seconds seems to burn simple moments into my memory bank. I am also working with your cards. Thank you for this good work that you are doing. You are making such a difference. Kind regards, Terry Dpwning"
