Prevention and Health Promotion Conference 2017: "Engage"

Description
This conference will allow youth service providers to engage in workshops related to key issues youth face on a day-to-day basis and garner the skills to enhance their ability to engage with them. The theme for this year's Conference is Youth Engagement. A provocative Keynote will be provided in the morning by Gary Anaka, Special Education Teacher, Author and expert on engaging the teenage brain (www.braincoach.ca) followed by a choice of several workshops related to: Experiential Learning, Self-Regulation, Anxiety and LOVE BC. Lunch, light snacks, and beverages will be provided for participants.
** PCRS is a supporter of Green/Environmental Initiatives. To help support this endeavour, we kindly request that you bring a re-usable bottle and/or mug for refreshments. We also encourage participants to re-use paper plates and cutlery when possible.**
Experiential Learning Workshop: This workshop will teach participants communication and team-building skills through experiential learning.
Self-Regulation Workshop: This workshop will focus on self-regulation tools and skills which are necessary for optimizing students' learning.
Anxiety Workshop: This workshop will provide participants with practical skills, strategies and greater awareness about how anxiety affects youth and practical strategies you can use to engage with youth who are experiencing anxiety.
LOVE BC Workshop: This workshop will use media arts as a vehicle for healthy self-expression and create meaningful dialogues on anti-violence and social justice.
