Intersections - Primary Health Care and Health Equity

On November 7th 2018, the 11th Annual South East LHIN Primary Health Care Forum will take place at the Ambassador Hotel in Kingston, Ontario. The Forum encourages regional dialogue and learning to support a strong primary care sector in an integrated health care system.

This year, the Forum will focus on the concept of Health Equity and how it intersects with the work we do in Primary Health Care. Everyone should have the opportunity to be as healthy as possible, yet many struggle with systemic and unfair disadvantages in our society. This year’s Forum will heighten awareness and discuss policies and programs to reduce barriers to good health.

Our learning objectives for the 2018 Primary Health Care Forum are to:

  1. Create a shared appreciation of how we define Health Equity, as well as the various systemic barriers within our health care system that prevent all people from achieving good health.

  2. Understand why Health Equity is relevant to primary care and why it is an important responsibility in today’s environment.

  3. Explore through interactive learning sessions with colleagues, local initiatives and practical tools or approaches that help to decrease disparities.

If you have additional questions about the Forum, please contact the PHCF Planning Committee.

This event is free of charge and spaces are still available! See our website for details on speakers and sessions.
