Date: January 22 - February 12, 2018 (Mondays, 4 weeks)
Time: 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Instructor: Tamsin Sloots

Loosen up your creativity with collograph. Collograph is a printmaking technique where a print is created from a collection of textures, collaged onto a rigid surface. Using a variety of flat found objects, string, glue, fabric, and cardboard, students will create their very own textured collograph plates and then learn how to ink and print them in a variety of ways and in a variety of colours. (Includes cost of inks, paper and matrix)

The first class, students are encouraged to bring small flat found objects that they feel would make interesting textures: lace fabrics, boucle yarns, leaves, paperclips, etc.

Tamsin Sloots is a maker of prints and textile objects originally hailing from Hamilton, Ontario. She has a diploma in textiles from Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario and a BFA Interdisciplinary from NSCAD University in Textiles and Printmaking. Tamsin is currently working out of the Cape Breton Centre for Craft & Design as an artist in residence for 2017-2018 where you can likely find her quilting up a storm or elbow deep in a vat of indigo. She thoroughly enjoys spreading her love of craft to people and experiencing the community and practicality found through making and creating. You can learn more about her by visiting her website: tamsinjohanna.com
