Process Plant Engineering is the inclusive practice of design, operation, optimization and control of chemical, physical and biological processes. Likewise, a process plant designer is commonly referred to the professional dealing with the process design for the purpose of transforming raw materials into usable end products. Process plant design may either be used to design a new facility or to expand/modify an existing one.
Process Plant Designers play a major role in feasibility studies and conceptual, preliminary and detailed design of process plants such as petroleum refineries, petrochemical complexes, chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturing, to name a few.
“Process Plant Engineering I” (Process Plant Design) provides detailed understating, knowledge and skills for engineering students and graduates, Junior and Senior process and project engineers and designers in engineering and manufacturing fields as well as technicians. The course content is the following:
- The Nature of Process Synthesis and Analysis
- Stages of Process Plant Design
- Heuristics for Process Synthesis
- Process Plant Design Deliverables
- Fundamentals of Material Balances
- Fundamentals of Energy Balances
- Process Diagrams (PFD and P&ID)
Course Duration: 36 hours (9 hours per week)
Start Date: February 15, 2017 (Wednesday)
End Date: March 11, 2017 (Saturday)
NOTE: Students who successfully accomplish the final project will receive an official certificate of completion.
