In these ongoing workshops, you will continue develop skills in drawing plants and flowers from observation. Using various drawing materials such as graphite pencil, pen, and coloured pencil, you will explore basic drawing techniques of line drawing, shading, stippling, and textural drawing while drawing from wild plants of the West Coast Botanical. We will discuss the life cycle of these plants and their cultural significance. Below you can find the list of plants chosen for each week:

W1: Salmonberry, Indian Plum

W2: Apple Blossoms

W3: Oceanspray, Lavender

W4: Lupine, Fireweed

Spring edition: We will also explore a few non-native flowers that are currently blooming in British Columbia.

Mehran will use these plants for step by step demonstrations. You can also use photos as reference to continue drawing. Mehran encourages that you find one of the plants mentioned for each week and bring it to the online session. You are also welcome to choose your own plant or focus on drawing one plant for all four weeks.
