Description

DATE: July 22, 25, 26, and August 1st, 2017 from 6 pm to 9 pm. With multiple breaks and fun filled activities!

LOCATION - Jim Green House Studio

Facilitated and presented by Rohit Chokhani

Eligibility - This workshop is part of an initiative primary meant for South Asians, however, no one who feels marginalized or wants to participate will be turned away. If you do not consider yourself part of the dominant culture due to your race, gender, sexual orientation, culture, religion, caste, class or any reason similar to that then you are eligible for this workshop. What we do not want is a room full of privileged dominant culture well-funded participants. You decide for yourself whether you are eligible or not.

Selection Process - Only 8 projects / 8 participants will be selected based on applications received. Projects will be selected based on relevance to the objectives of Project SAT, Originality and uniqueness of the project Idea and the process applicable to the project. 8 spots will be filled based on first come first basis for the applications. In other words - the applications will be adjudicated as they come in and once suitable and selected will be given a spot if there is one available. Applications will be reviewed by the Project SAT team and the facilitators for the workshop.

Application Details: To apply you need to register for this event and then email an application letter outlining why you should be selected for this workshop and what your project Idea is. 2 PAGE MAXIMUM. Note: the project idea can be very early in the phase or fully developed. We won't be judging based on the status of the project but more so on the idea. It is the goal of the workshop to help you pitch this idea and make your pitch stronger and possibly help you realize it through brainstorming during the workshop. Email your applications to:

Detailed Description:

Learn how to pitch your current theater / South Asian themed project ideas to potential partners, presenters, producers, and funders. Three well-established industry practitioners will run you through an hour-long session each on what they look for in a project that they select for three specific phases: Development, Production, and Presentation. A facilitator will work with you throughout the program to help you prepare a pitch from start to finish. We will end the program with everyone getting an opportunity to pitch in front of the class and a few professionals for more feedback. Due to the 1-1 nature of this workshop, 8 Participants will be selected by a selection committee to participate in this program. $100 deposit to hold the spot. Money nonrefundable if you do not attend but $100 returned upon completion of the program. We simply do not want to fill a workshop with folks who do not attend and have others miss out. Thanks for understanding!

Please register only if your probability to show up is 90-100%. It is a free workshop but that does not mean you claim a spot and not show up. By doing that you are wasting a free opportunity for someone else.
