Protecting 'legacy business' in Vancouver Chinatown 保留唐人街的「傳承商業」

Date: August 23rd, 2017

Time: 5:00 pm-7:00pm

時間: 下午 5點 至 7點

Location: Lore Krill Housing Co-operative, 239 East Georgia Street, Vancouver

The City of Vancouver is investigating a potential program similar to San Francisco’s Legacy Business Registry and Legacy Business Historic Preservation Fund. The City of Vancouver hopes the program may help address retail gentrification and the loss of neighbourhood-defining character in Chinatown and adjacent communities. The City's aim is to implement the program within 16-18 months of the report from this research (planned for November 1, 2017) with the possibility of extending into other neighbourhoods in the inner city.

The City has hired LOCO BC (Amy Robinson), in partnership with Heritage Vancouver (Bill Yuen), June Chow (of the Youth Collaborative for Chinatown - 青心在唐人街), and Modus (Rob Barrs), to complete this work.

溫哥華市雇用了LOCO BC (Amy Robinson)與Heritage Vancouver溫哥華遺產社團 (Bill Yuen), June Chow (青心在唐人街) 和 Modus (Rob Barrs) 以合作關係進行該研究。

We are reaching out to Chinatown residents, businesses, and landlords and leasing agents to help understand how community members define a 'legacy business' in Chinatown and/or a business with heritage or community value.

If you live, work, own a business, rent or own commercial space in Chinatown, please attend this event to provide our team with valuable input on the future of business and the neighbourhood character of Chinatown.

This workshop is free of charge. Light refreshments will be served. 免費活動。我們會提供小食飲品。

If you haven't already filled in the survey as a business owner, resident of Chinatown (or employee or resident of nearby neighbourhood), or landowner/leasing agent, please do so using the appropriate link below:
