Description

Want to join the fight for affordable child care for all DC kids, and support our hardworking educators and providers? DC Appleseed and DC Fiscal Policy Institute are pleased to host a training for parents, teachers, and child care providers on upcoming early childhood legislation in DC Council, and how to effectively testify before the Council.

The DC Council is holding a hearing on two bills designed to improve early education for infants and toddlers on September 27. We hope everybody will come out to this hearing and reinforce the critical importance of why DC needs to invest in quality child care and early childhood development!

This training will help you prepare for the hearing by:

  1. Giving you a brief overview of what’s in the bills.
  2. Working with you to help you craft key messages and tell your story. We’ll also offer some tips and tricks we’ve learned from testifying in front of DC Council.

No prior advocacy or legislative experience necessary -- feel free to bring any and all questions!

Childcare and light refreshments provided.

You can sign up to testify before the Council here, or call 202-724-8061 by 5pm on Monday, September 25.

If you can’t make it to this training or you know someone else who would like to but can’t, please encourage them to get in touch with us and come to the additional training we’ll be offering on Wednesday, September 20 from 12:00-1:30pm.

Email Melanie Kruvelis at mkruvelis@dcappleseed.org if you have any questions.
