Dr. Michelle (Bell) Lohnes is a Registered Clinical and School Psychologist who has been practicing in the Niagara Region for over 20 years. She provides assessment and treatment services to children, adolescents, adults, and couples. Dr. Lohnes provides comprehensive psychological assessments for children, adolescents, and adults for the assessment of Learning and Developmental Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD and behavioural difficulties, anxiety-based disorders (GAD, OCD, Social Anxiety), depression and stress reactions (PTSD), and personality functioning. Dr. Lohnes also completes assessment for treatment and disability-based assessments.
In the area of psychological treatment, Dr. Lohnes' primary focus at this time is working with adults whose primary concerns relate to anxiety, grief, relationship distress, workplace stress, and trauma, as well as for building healthy attachment and interpersonal connection and fostering self-understanding, self-compassion, and coping. She is also interested in supporting individuals who work in the mental health or medical fields in caregiving roles to build resilience and to prevent burn out and compassion fatigue. In individual therapy she works from an integrated approach which is client centred and draws from a variety of theoretical orientations including attachment and trauma based models, interpersonal and dynamic focussed therapies, Emotion Focussed Therapy (EFT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
