Event description

Description

Last week, half a million Canadians missed work because of a mental health problem or illness. Mental health problems and mental illnesses account for approximately 30% of short- and long-term disability claims, and they are rated one of the top causes of disability claims by over 80% of Canadian employers.

OH&S legislation has put the well-being of workers as a responsibility that falls on owners, supervisors, and workers alike. A new National Standard of Canada has been published for mental health in the workplace. This voluntary standard was created to help organizations recognize psychological health as part of an ongoing process of continual improvement. Our day-long workshop is geared to businesses both for and not-for-profit. We will go over the legal requirements around psychological health and safety and come up with a system that works for the company and the workers.
