NOT ALL WHO WANDER ARE LOST

The PTBO Game Jam 05 is taking over Peterborough, Ontario again this winter, March 14 – March 15th, 2020. In collaboration with the Fleming Computer Club, we’re returning to the amazing Kawartha Trades & Technology Centre.

YOUTH EDUCATIONAL BLOCK

Are you interested in making games? Or know someone that might be? PTBO Game Jam 05 includes an optional educational session from the Pinnguaq Association with a special focus on introducing youth to making games with free toolsets geared directly to them. We’ll be demonstrating how to use MIT’s Scratch to create a simple game and expanding out with having attendees participate in their own mini-jam related to this event's theme.

This block is meant for children under 16. They must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. No hardware required, just bring your lovely selves. Guardians do not need a ticket (you will be asked to sign a waiver)!

ADULT EDUCATIONAL BLOCK

Want to try your hand at making a game, but don’t know where to start? We’ve got your back! Our Adult Education Block is geared towards giving you that extra little kick to get started making your game. We will be walking through one of Unity's demonstration projects, answering your questions as we go. We encourage everyone ahead of time to try to go through the project themselves!

This block is geared towards adults, and while we are not going to turn away children under 16, they must be accompanied by an adult - each attendee must register to attend. Hardware is not provided.

PTBO GAME JAM 05 BLOCK

March 14th, 2020 9:00 AM – March 15th, 2020 5:00 PM | Room D1129

This is the real deal here - you’re making a game! There will be pressure, there will be pizza, there will be games and of course: awesomeness! The timer starts Saturday 9 AM, after which you will have 32-hours to design and create something on your own, or as a team. When the ball drops on Sunday at 5 PM your immediate journey will end. You will be tired, but you will be happy! Don't forget to select your T-Shirt size during checkout. That's right; we are getting you some swag, but ONLY if you sign up before February 28th, 2020. Here's the sizing chart, so make sure you pick correctly.

Hardware will not be provided. Please bring your own equipment.

TICKETING EXPLAINED

If you want to go to an educational section as either a participant or attendee parent or guardian, you must sign up for a ticket for it. If you want to participate in PTBO Game Jam 05, you must sign up for a ticket for it as well.

A ticket per person, per block, please.

If you plan on bringing additional people they need to have tickets as well - this helps us get our numbers right for our goodie sponsors!.
