Public art, past and present
Sat, 27 May 2017, 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM CDT
Public art reflects community and instills a sense of pride. During this walk, we will look at the city through the lens of the history and present of public art to understand how the interests of the bustling downtown have changed and grown throughout the years. From the playful contemporary artworks at the Millennium Library to the opulent Birks Building artworks created in the early 1900s, this walk will reveal the history and intention behind the public art you’ve always enjoyed as staple of Winnipeg but may never have known the meaning of.
We will meet in the lobby of the Millennium Library to start our tour.
