Join the SQIA for our Virtual Workshop Series: Pulaaqatigiit "Visiting with Each Other" on Sunday, November 29th at 1:30 PM. We will be learning how to make Aku beaded earrings with Neevie Simigak.
Neevie Simigak is an Inuk from Kangirsuk currently studying Arts & Culture at Dawson College in Montreal. Raised in Kangirsuk, her interest in beading started in the 3rd grade, when her Inuttitut teacher taught her class how to bead floral bracelets, but after that year she did not keep beading as one of her hobbies as she did not have her own materials. It's not until last year in 2019, that she became more passionate about beading and started an Instagram page to share her talents with everyone, and started selling handmade beaded earrings and necklaces.

This workshop will be held primarily in English but she can also answer questions in Inuktitut (Nunavimmiutitut dialect).
This workshop will take place on Zoom and will be open for all. You will receive a zoom link once registered for the event.
Materials needed to make your own Aku beaded earrings:
- 11/0 delica beads:3 colors of your choice
- Beading thread
- Beading needles
- scissors
- Earring hooks
