About this event
Celebrate your creativity and have fun in the process! Explore the simplicity and beauty of Sand Bag Puppets.
While we celebrate life’s great milestones for many reasons and in many different ways… what about the day to day celebrations that over time contribute to our happiness and self-worth… the small reasons to celebrate every day!
Often professionals use puppets to tell a story or to work through a problem. Finding the right character puppet specific to your needs and budget may be a challenge. For many people the thought of designing and making a puppet can feel overwhelming.
This demo will explore the versatility of “Sand bag” puppets and take you through a step by step process on how to make and customize a puppet that suits your needs.
Geared to the professional and/or puppeteer who is not already making their own puppets... “but I can’t even draw a stick man” …. This class is for you!
Accessibility: This session will be presented with auto-generated English captions.
A bit about the Artist:
Juanita Dawn's journey into puppetry first began in the early 2000’s and continues to evolve and develop with each project. Juanita was first a sculptor and now is a puppeteer and full time puppet and mask builder. Her creations embody a whimsical and playful quality – ensuring that each puppet and mask she makes has their own personality.
Quality and durability are key components included in every project. The demand of today’s puppets requires multiple mediums and construction techniques. These include design work and consulting, prototyping, casting, wood working, jointing, sewing and needle felting, just to name a few.
This event is also available as part of our Puppet Power: Festival of Ideas All Access Pass and Event Recording Package.
