About this event
The Queerudition Workshop Series is a bi-monthly workshop focusing on LGBTQ+ education and discussion. All ages are welcome. It is presented by the Victoria Pride Society Youth Leadership Council. If you are interested in presenting, please email vpsyouthcouncil@gmail.com. The workshop will also be recorded and posted on our Instagram IGTV (@vps_youth_council).
This month's Queerudition Workshop is led by Alex Arsenea (He/Him) and Gabrielle Chabot (She/Her), from #RisingYouth and TakingITGlobal. They will discuss queer project ideas that would qualify for micro-grants. They want to hear about what matters most to you and guide you on how to apply for money to carry out a community project. Examples of other successful “queer projects” that have already been carried out through #RisingYouth will be provided to help inspire you. Come prepared with an open mind and a sense of what matters to you in your community.
Rising Youth Community Service Grants empowers young people, ages 15-30, to imagine ideas that can support their local community. They help put those ideas into action through grants of $250, $750, or $1500 and through ongoing project support. To learn more about them and to apply for a grant, visit their website at https://www.risingyouth.ca/
Alex is a 28-year-old queer Acadian from New Brunswick and has a Sociology Undergrad. He is a community organizer, youth advocate, and environmental justice activist. Issues of degrowth and decolonization are his priorities. He firmly believes in participatory democracy, direct action, and social and civic innovations in urban settings.
